Vital Converstaions | Online Grow Study
March 21-May 23rd | Sundays at 1PM | Zoom
Conversations around race can be uncomfortable for most of us. The church is no exception. Claire Heil and Sharon Pierce will facilitate 8 Sunday Sessions of virtual conversations on Zoom guided by resources made available from The General Commission on Race and Religion of the United Methodist Church. “Vital Conversations Series 1: Racism in the U.S. Church” is offered as a way to begin a dialogue, face our misconceptions and fears, and move deliberately to spiritual community and social transformation. Men and women are invited into vital conversations about our calling from God to serve a world of diverse people. Scripture tells us that the work of the gospel includes reconciliation of the human race.
The study consists of video presentations, sharing thoughts, impressions and ideas on various topics including: deconstructing white privilege, building the beloved community, ongoing acts of repentance, meaningful conversations on race, continued struggles in race relations, intersections of oppression and tearing down fences. These vital conversations nurture disciples of Jesus who will transform the world for the better.
