This season of waiting and wondering about the state of our building after this summer’s flood has tested everyone’s patience. As a congregation, we have shown resilience, flexibility, and creativity as we adjusted to new routines in several areas of church life. At the same time, many of us have been eager for updates and hopeful for the day when things will return to normal, or perhaps even become better than before.
To keep you encouraged and well informed, we want to share an update about our next steps.
Restoration and Renovation Committee: To guide our congregation through both the immediate restoration of our facilities and the long-term vision for renewed ministry space, a Restoration and Renovation Committee is being formed. This committee will serve under the authority and supervision of the Trustee Sub-team of the Leadership Board.
Purpose of the Committee
- Vision Gathering: The team will gather, organize, and evaluate ideas for what our Traditional Worship Center and third floor could become in the years ahead. They will serve as the central hub for conversation, creativity, and shared imagination.
- Restoration Support and Practical Planning: The committee will assist with the current restoration work, helping identify practical upgrades that can be completed now and ensuring that future improvements are planned in ways that avoid unnecessary expenses later. For example, if future technology will require different wiring, this group will help make sure those needs are considered before walls are closed.
- Development of a Multi-year Upgrade Plan: The committee will recommend a structured plan that outlines potential upgrades over the next several years. Projects will be organized according to what is realistic in one, three, five, or more years.
Composition of the Committee
The committee will remain small and nimble so that it can work efficiently during what will be a demanding process. Membership will include:
- Lay Members
- Justin Strickland, who brings extensive experience in church construction, including the Woodstock Church project.
- Angie Faulise, former Lay Leader and long-time leader across many areas of church life.
- Claire Heil, long-standing member with deep involvement in ministry and strong knowledge of our congregation.
- Ex Officio Members
- Chad House, representing the Trustees
- Steve Walsh, representing Finance
- Staff Members
- Allison Kickham, Director of Adult Ministries
- Woody Brown, Director of Traditional Music
- Rev. Chris Bryant, Senior Pastor
This team reflects a range of ages and backgrounds to ensure broad insight and balanced representation.
In addition, Nancy Snyder will be available as a consultant. Nancy has served on every building committee since the church began and offers valuable knowledge of past planning and decisions.
As this committee begins its work, we invite your continued prayers for wisdom, unity, and clarity. We believe this season holds real possibility for renewal and fresh ministry, and we look forward to sharing progress with you. Through patience, cooperation, and faith, we will move toward a restored and strengthened home for worship, ministry, and community life.
