This year’s Confirmation journey was a meaningful and transformative experience for both our students and me. From our first gathering in November through our closing retreat in February, students were invited to explore what it means to follow Jesus and take ownership of their faith.
Throughout the process, we had powerful conversations, asked important questions, and created space for students to wrestle with and grow in their understanding of God. One of the most rewarding parts of Confirmation was watching students reach those moments where things began to click–when faith became personal and real.
This journey is especially meaningful to me because I remember my own Confirmation experience as a defining moment in my life. It was during that time that I gained clarity in my faith. As I walked alongside this group of students, I was reminded of that same spark. Seeing them engage deeply, ask thoughtful questions, and begin to understand their place in the life of the church.
We closed our time together with our Confirmation Retreat in February, which provided space for reflection, connection, and deepened faith. Perhaps the most impactful moment came when students created their own stoles. On one side, they designed symbols and images that represented who they are with their hobbies, interests, and personalities. On the other side, they reflected their growing understanding of Christ and what their faith now means to them. This creative and personal expression became a powerful way for students to see how their identity and their faith come together.
One of the most powerful moments of Confirmation is when students stand before the congregation and are recognized as full members of the church. It’s a moment that represents not just commitment but belonging. It’s a reminder that they are stepping into a lifelong relationship with God, supported by a community that will continue to nurture and encourage them.
Confirmation is never just about completing a class. It’s about beginning a lifelong journey of faith. And this year, we were blessed to witness that journey begin for an incredible group of students.
