WELCOME!
frequently asked questions
When is 9:30 AM worship resuming in the building?
Our Sunday morning traditional service will start back at 9:30 AM on October 18.
When is contemporary worship resuming?
Our Sunday morning contemporary service will start back at 11:00 AM on November 1. Mark your calendars for our outdoor Night of Worship on October 9 at 7:00 PM.
How do I save my seat for Sunday Morning indoor worship?
Go to ptcumc.org/savemyseat to reserve a space for your family on Sundays or call Christine Lewis at 770-487-6499.
Reservations open each week at noon on Sunday and close at midnight on Saturday for the following Sunday morning.
Why do I need to reserve a seat?
We have less space in our worship centers than we did prior to March 2020 in order to maintain social distancing. Our traditional worship center now only seats 180 people and our contemporary worship center now only holds 100.
How long will services be?
Our services will be less than 45 minutes in order to make sure we can clear the buildings between services and reduce exposure time.
Why aren’t we singing indoors?
Many of our common practices in worship have the potential to cause airborne spread. We are working within the guidelines set forth by the CDC and the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. To read more about those guidelines, go here and click on “Considerations for Music and Worship Planning.”
What is being offered for Kids?
While we will be offering our 9:30 AM worship service inside the building by mid-October, our KiDS Min will not resume until we resume both services (9:30 Traditional and 11:00 Contemporary) on November 1 for babies – pre-K.
We ask that older children remain with their parents during worship in November. Children must be included in your “save my seat” reservation. Programming for K – 5th grades will resume in December.
What is our cleaning protocol?
We have purchased extra hospital-grade disinfectant for surfaces to be used in between services in our KiDS Min areas and we have a fogger that is used every day after the rooms are vacant. We have found this to be highly effective for our Weekday School that has been in session since August 31.
Who is required to wear a mask?
Masks are required for ages 3 and up to enter the classrooms. Once in the classrooms ages 3 and 4 will be able to remove their masks. All leaders will be wearing masks and/or face shields inside the building.
What is the social distancing protocol?
We ask that households stay a minimum of six feet apart while you are on campus. For KiDS MIN we have re-arranged how we approach our programming time so that students can be more spread out and do not have to move from our large group room to small group rooms.
We will have a reservation system for worship to ensure that we are not overcrowded in any one space. You can register at PTCUMC.org/savemyseat. Upon arrival parents can check in their children in our lower lobby to the right as you exit the elevators.
When will Adult Sunday School and Breakfast Club resume?
Since we only have one room where these groups can gather and remain six feet apart, we will not resume these groups at this time. Please contact us if you would like to connect with a group via Zoom or if you’d like to join a Connect group that meets on Sunday evenings.
When does 608 start?
Our student ministry will continue meeting through Connect groups, Fall Retreat One Day on November 1, and a Christmas Night of Worship on December 13.
August 2020
Our building has reopened for scheduled weekday gatherings of up to 50 adults and outdoor worship.
Before you join us, please do a self-check using this checklist and have a clean mask that can cover your nose and mouth.
We require that you use a mask, sanitize your hands, and practice social distancing on all parts of the church property.
Feel free to read on regarding other details of our reopening plans. Thank you!
Update – Gatherings up to 50 adults in the building and Weekday School students.
This intent of this layer allows us to do scheduled outdoor worship, small groups for adults only, managed small group missional activity, and supervised small group Scout activity.
Gathering Thresholds:
- No more than 50 adults in the buildings at one time.
- No more than 30 people in the Scout lodge.
- Outdoor gatherings are not limited by number.
- Scheduled funerals, weddings, or worship recording can be done at this level as long as the number of people in the connected buildings is less than 50 and social distancing is adhered to.
Social Distancing Protocol:
- People should remain 6 feet apart at all times on all parts of the property.
- Masks should be worn at all times. We will have a supply of masks but members are encouraged to bring their own from home.
- Hand sanitizing or hand washing is required upon entering the building. And more frequently as needed.
Group Scheduling and Protocol:
- Groups can schedule a meeting time with Christine Lewis by calling the front office.
- Rooms will be set up with chairs six feet apart and with no tables.
- Each group leader should get RSVPs from their group members to ensure the number of people in the building does not exceed 50. After the meeting the group leader will turn in a dated list of participants present to the front desk.
- If a member who has been in the building tests positive for COVID, we ask that they notify a pastor or their group leader. Confidentiality will be protected. The group leader will then notify the group members present at the last meeting that they may have been exposed and should self quarantine. That group will not meet again in the building for a two week period.
Signs and Cleaning:
- Signs will be placed at the entrance, bathrooms, and on each floor asking guests to hand wash or hand sanitize and to wear a mask at all times.
- Signs will be placed in meeting rooms to remind members to stay 6 feet apart and wear masks.
- Normal cleaning will take place each night. Rooms that have been occupied during that day will have their surfaces cleaned with the hospital grade disinfectant.

Sunday Worship is conducted at 225 Robinson Road.
PTCUMC has a “come as you are” atmosphere. Some dress formally. Others dress casually. Some are dressed to go to work, and others are just coming from work. However you dress, please be comfortable – we will welcome you no matter what you are wearing.
We offer periodic CONNECT classes which last about an hour. CONNECT gives you an overview of the church, our mission and our values. This is a great opportunity to meet with our pastoral staff in a small group setting. When you visit our church for the first time, please don’t forget to stop by The Welcome Desk in the lobby. We have a gift for you and some printed information that is helpful for newcomers.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe the scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are the inspired word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) We believe the Holy Spirit guided and directed human authors to create God’s written means of communication with us, which reveals God’s love and plan to be in relationship with all of humanity.
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons…the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is equally the one God in being, essence, character, power and eternal qualities.
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior who came to earth in the flesh to reveal God to humans and to restore all of fallen humanity to a personal relationship with God. We believe Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary; He is both fully human and fully God. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life and embodies the truth about God and the Truth of God. Jesus willingly died on the cross to demonstrate God’s love for sinful humans and to provide salvation for all humanity. His sacrifice in our place provides all humans the means to be reconnected with their loving Creator. We believe in the physical resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Jesus ascended into heaven, where he rules as our Lord (absolute authority) and advocate. Jesus will return to earth in the future to establish God’s perfect peace and justice for all time.
We believe in the divine nature of the Holy Spirit as an equal part of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is God present, living within each follower to empower a life that reflects the lifestyle, values and character of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the change agent in the lives of Jesus’ followers, illuminating God’s word for understanding and application in the life of each. The Spirit is involved in progressively transforming each follower into the image of Christ and is actively working within the Christian community and world at large to bring about God’s plan of redemption for all people and all creation.
We believe the Church is a living organism made up of all those in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, who are called to live in fellowship and worship together. We believe in the priesthood of all believers: everyone in relationship with Christ is gifted, empowered and called to serve within God’s mission to reach the world.
