From Generation to Generation

Connecting Women, Growing Faith, Building Community

Before accepting a job at PTCUMC in December of 2018, my family and I attended and became members of this church. Tim and I were a young family with two little ones – Elizabeth had just turned 2, and Lillian, was only a few months old. Everything was new, and if I’m honest, a little overwhelming at times. We were adjusting to life as a family of four, learning a new rhythm, and trying to find where we fit while getting connected to all things PTCUMC.

Some of the first people I connected with were Barbara Roy and Gail Coggins (aka Mrs. Gigi). These women, without having to, chose to pour their love not just to my children, but into me as well. Mrs. Barbara would mail me sweet, encouraging cards, text, and call just to check in. Those small acts meant more than I can put into words. To a young mom in a new season, it made me feel seen, cared for, and not alone. I quickly realized, I had found my church family.

Now, eight years later, my church family has grown even more. Of course, we have wonderful friends through our small groups, and we love doing life with them, but what I think is so unique is the multigenerational relationships our church has. My girls and I are now dear friends with so many—from Barbara Roy, to Janet Goodwin, to Sue Kunig, to Peggy Wilder, to Mary Ann Stephens. We have a strong, loving, and supportive group of women of all ages in our lives. My children get excited each week to see these women. These ladies embrace them…teaching and guiding them with servant hearts. It’s this that makes me so proud to be part of PTCUMC.

Through watching these incredible women and the way they pour into others and serve our church, I am inspired and challenged for the future. I hope to be able to do the same for the next generation. The cycle must continue, because it is how we grow the Kingdom of God.

Now, I am not alone in this sentiment. Because of that, I’m happy to introduce our new Women’s Ministry Lead Team including myself, Erin Villarreal, Joanna House, and Jamie Mathis. Each of these women has a deep heart and passion for Jesus and PTCUMC. They each bring strong leadership skills along with unique gifts and strengths that will help us to continue to grow this ministry in the years to come. When meeting with these amazing women, each one of them shared something that stood out to me—that our church is unique because we have such a close connection across the generations. This is why I’m so proud to partner with these women as we build our women’s ministry. This will be at the forefront of all that we do.

Women’s Ministry is event-driven, bringing our small groups together to provide opportunities to connect across generations and to invite new women in. It’s important that we gather. It’s important that we learn and grow together. This is the heart of our Women’s Ministry, and we would love for you to be part of it.

Recently, at our latest event, Gathered Around the Table, we came together, sat with one another, shared recipes, and more importantly, shared our ideas and hopes for what’s to come in the life of PTCUMC Women’s Ministry. We also began collecting recipes to create a Women’s Ministry cookbook…stay tuned for the release date!

I am so excited to be part of this beautiful ministry, and I hope that you are too. If you would like to stay connected and get news first about upcoming events and serve opportunities, please join our Women’s Ministry group below.
