Hello Neighbors!
What a Sunday we’re about to have together! We’ll continue our “Three Simple Questions” theme with, “Why Do People Need Jesus’ Church?” You know church is God’s idea, not ours. It’s “the plan.” There’s no back-up plan. Ever thought of that or had it put that way? Further, and more importantly, church is not a place we go but a people we become. Sisters and brothers, I’m so looking forward to sharing this message with you and it is a particularly good time to invite people that have struggled with the idea of church or otherwise have disconnected.
On top of that (and not coincidently) it’s our annual GROUPS BLOCK PARTY for adult small groups to kick off. There are so many great groups to choose from and some new ones just getting started. This wonderful event includes a BBQ lunch that will happen right after contemporary worship (12:10pm approximately). This is another reason to invite people you know to make sure to be in worship this Sunday.
I want to say thank you to all those who wished me a Happy Birthday yesterday, especially the Staff of the church which includes our amazing Weekday School! I was truly touched. One of the more outstanding things I’ve discovered in my short time here is the dedicated people who make up the PTCUMC Staff and that includes those of our Weekday School, the professionalism and commitment they have is obvious (they are also genuinely enjoyable people to be around.)
Speaking of the Weekday School, parents showed up last night and they were back this morning with their little ones for Meet the Teacher. School starts on Monday, and I ask that you pause as you read this and pray for Angela our new Director, Maegan the Assistant Director, and the entire faculty who worked days earlier (before they get paid) to start preparing. That’s not just a job friends, that’s a calling and a love. May this school year be the best one yet for our Weekday School.
Ok, well, I’m going to get back to work on the sermon before I head to the Conference offices this afternoon, as I’m on the Barnes Evaluation and Administrative Team (B.E.A.T.) which oversees all grant funding for the North Georgia Conference. I’ve been on it since its creation and lead the vision and innovation subcommittee. Perhaps PTCUMC might apply for a B.E.A.T. grant for some worthy cause / innovative ministry endeavor in the future.
I’m so grateful to get to be your Lead Pastor. Hope to see you Sunday!
