Last year, Pastor Chris and I joined the PTCUMC staff within weeks of each other. In one of our first conversations, he asked me a question that made me pause: “Jamie, where did you learn to be a leader?” I took a moment to reflect before answering with a deep sense of gratitude, “Here.”
Peachtree City United Methodist Church raised me. I had the distinct honor to grow up at both our Windgate Rd and our Robinson Rd campuses. I was under the leadership of a series of men and women who not only shaped our church, but shaped me as well. While several of the people who made big impacts on my life sat on our church staff, the people that I remember the most were those who served. The time and energy that they poured into this church and poured into me. And now, I sit here with the greatest blessing of all – the chance to give back to a church that has given so much to me.
I am honored to be part of the planning for our big 50th celebration lunch on February 2nd. It has been so much fun to be part of a team who has spent the last few months reflecting on the first 50 years of this church. But as we move towards this celebration, I encourage you to keep your eyes forward. To think intentionally about the next 50 years of this church that we all love so much. Where does your story fit in here? How can you serve? How can you lead? Where can you give? What role can you play in the next 50 years?
As we approach this milestone, let’s take a moment to honor the rich legacy of our past while embracing the exciting possibilities of the future. This church has always been about more than buildings or events, it’s about people stepping up in faith and love. I invite you to reflect on how you can help shape the next 50 years of PTCUMC. Whether through service, leadership, or generosity, there’s a place for everyone in this story. Let’s celebrate all that we’ve accomplished and look forward to thriving boldly into the future together.
We invite you to join us on Sunday, February 2nd, at noon in the Traditional Worship Center for a special church wide luncheon in honor of PTCUMC’s 50th anniversary. We’ll enjoy a traditional potluck, with fried chicken provided by the church and side dishes or desserts contributed by you.
