Judson B. Hodges, Jr. (Jay)

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, but moved immediately to East Point, Ga. where my dad was a mechanic for Delta Air Lines. After he went into the ministry, we moved to Norcross where I attended and graduated from Norcross High School.

Attended Georgia Southern College on basketball scholarship for two years and then served as pastor to Bulloch County Circuit until graduation with a BA in English. Served as President of Sophomore Class, 1967.

Attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University, graduating with Master of Divinity in 1972. Sang with the Candler Choraliers. Later completed the Doctor of Ministry in 1991. Taught as adjunct professor in Supervised Ministry for four years.

Served churches mostly in Atlanta including Faith UMC (Riverdale), Associate Pastor East Point UMC, Hollydale UMC (Cobb County), University Heights (Decatur), Fairburn First UMC, Stockbridge First UMC, and retired from First UMC Milledgeville.

Served on several Annual Conference Boards and Committees, chairing Board of Church and Society, and chaired the Georgia Pastor’s School Board of Managers. 

Volunteered at Emory University and served on the Alumni Board of Governors, and served as National Chair of the Emory Annual Fund for two years.

Currently reside in Milledgeville where I sing with the church choir and with the Milledgeville Singers Guild.

Married to Linda, and have two daughters, Joy and Chrissie.
