Live it Out

Summer is the perfect time to make lasting memories – and for many of us, some of the best came from summer camp (aka VBS). We all had our favorite parts, each one different, but all full of fun. From Bible stories and games to crafts, snacks, and worship, it was a week that began with boundless energy and open hearts and ended with exhausted bodies and hearts overflowing. We might not agree on which part was the best, but I think we can all agree that the real highlights were the connections we formed with our leaders, our friends, and most of all, with God.

This summer, at Preschool Camp Discovery and Elementary Camp Live It Out, our hope is that every camper experiences all the fun and so much more! We’re praying that when the week ends, they won’t just say it was the best week ever, but more importantly, that they’ll walk away inspired to love and live like Jesus.

You see, if we are doing what God calls us to do, making this week of camp unforgettable for kids isn’t what matters most. It’s the “what comes after, day to day, live it out part” that does. Helping kids discover and embrace that they have a powerful role to play in changing the world when they choose to love and live like Jesus. At camp, they’ll begin to learn that means to…

LOVE one another
BE KIND to one another
FORGIVE one another
SERVE one another

And our “Live It Out” camp theme carries over to our Summer Sundays in Kids, giving us the opportunity in keeping the message of “love and live like Jesus” in front of our campers Sunday to Sunday all summer long.

One last thing! We hope this summer fills your hearts, too. So June will be a time, for the first time, that not only our kids, but our entire church family will be discovering each Sunday morning what it means to “live it out” when it comes to love, kindness, forgiveness, service, and prayer.

It is our prayer that June will be a month that all of us, young and old, make memories and connect or reconnect with each other and God. May He fill our hearts, big and small, with the desire to “live it out” and change the world!

“I give you a new command. Love one another. You must love one another, just as I have loved you.” – John 13:34, NIrV
