Hey, Church Family! I’m so thankful for our church leadership and God’s provision with minimal impact from this latest storm—it was great worshipping with you in person on Sunday! However, the storm last summer certainly impacted us, and this is an update on what the Restoration and Renovation Committee is working on. First, thanks so much for all your interest and input! Between the online comments and paper feedback from a couple of Sundays ago, we have a clear picture of where we as a congregation want the emphasis placed for restoration and the dreams we have for renovation!
Working within the process laid out by the Leadership Board, our committee researches, discusses, and prayerfully recommends action items to the Trustees, who then make decisions within their purview or upchannel to the Leadership Board for final decision. We have been meeting since November, gaining an understanding of the extent of the damage, what it will take to bring us back to pre-event condition, what dreams the congregation and staff have for our spaces, where we can prepare for future upgrades, and who would best do the work. As of last week, with Board approval, we have a tentative award to a general contractor and engaged an interior designer/architect to begin laying out plans for our Traditional Worship Center, Lobby, and third floor Adult Ministries space. The contractor will also be finishing out the KidMin/Weekday School area that were rebuilt last fall as painting and carpet are all required there.
We anticipate a few weeks working with the Interior Designer to form the plan. Meanwhile the contractor may begin on items that will be required regardless of what design ideas are approved. We are committed to minimizing disruption to the already-out-of-the-ordinary space usage as we move through construction. And while we can’t give you a timeline on return to full use of all our spaces, please know we are doing everything possible to speed that along!
