The Tabernacle/Temple was God’s first plan to reside with His people. But it was always in limited form- it was only a foretaste of what was to come. With the work of Christ on the cross, God’s presence on earth changes venue. As Paul shares, the new venue is the church- not the building but the community or Body of Christ is the venue in which God’s presence is made manifest. That’s why we’re incomplete outside of that community- we’re missing not only our brothers and sisters, but the presence of God to which we now have access!
