What the World Needs Now...
The world has taken a step backwards in civility. Have you noticed? I’m not just talking about politics and pandemics or our current “anything but social-able” social media. I’m talking about human relationships in every corner of society. It seems to me – we’ve stepped backwards in our fundamental grasp of our shared humanity.
I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed?
As I began to wonder what words to bring up, (out of the blue) a song began to rise up in my heart. It’s an old song – a very old song. I was only 5 years old when it was released. It was sung by Jackie DeShannon. The repeating verse hangs on these words: "What the world needs now is love, sweet love It’s the only thing there’s just too little of What the world needs now is love, sweet love No not just for some, but for everyone (DeShannon, 1965)."
