What Am I Supposed To Be Doing?

“What am I supposed to be doing?” That question seems to be running through my head 24/7 lately. Mostly because I have the memory of a goldfish, but also because there is so much going on. We’re coming into Spring going 100 miles per hour. We’ve all got summer plans to make, school is ending, students are graduating, people are still getting sick, countries are being upended, and the list goes on and on and on. It’s not a stretch to assume that a lot of people are asking, “What am I supposed to be doing?”

Fittingly, that’s what our Confirmands have been talking about for the last four months, and it all culminates this Sunday night at our Confirmation service. Our theme this year is WIRED. Yes, we’ve been giving them the fundamentals for their faith but we have also been talking a lot about what we’re supposed to be doing with it. What is it that we were wired to do? We’re all gifted with unique, valuable things from God and we can use them to benefit and build His Kingdom in our own way.

It’s a beautiful design. There’s no, one, specific way that we have to do things for God. He only asks that, when the opportunity arises, we do something.

So whether your mission field is the workplace, another country, the school cafeteria, or a dugout we can understand that each of us are wired to be there. We are all constantly presented with unique opportunities that we can be a part of to do God’s work. In doing so, we can put our own fingerprint in building His kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.
