Ye Olde Burgess Christmas Letter

Merry Christmas (2021) from “Burgess South!”

O Come, All Ye Faithful…

I feel as though this coming year is the year we finally see the light at the end of the covid tunnel. It has been so hard for so many. My family is grateful for the vaccines and for a “place of grace” to serve my calling as a UMC pastor. Given that this is the Burgess Family Christmas letter, let me catch you up on us:

Katie & her husband Mark both changed jobs by moving from Denver to Rapid City, South Dakota. Mark is an IT specialist and is now working for an engineering & technology company headquartered out of Rapid City. Katie has transitioned from working as an epidemiologist for the Colorado Public Health Department into an epidemiologist role for the public health research entity born out of the Catholic Church’s desire to provide a quality healthcare ministry that reflects Gospel values. We are proud of them both! They moved into their home in early fall.

Jacob graduated from Young Harris College in May with a B.S. in Biology. We are so proud of that huge accomplishment (God is so good!) He continues to network everywhere to find a job that will allow him to use that degree. When Katie & Mark moved from Colorado to South Dakota, Jacob helped them move and then chose to stay in Rapid City. He is currently helping another family member build their dream home in the Black Hills during the week days, and career hunting during the evenings and weekends.

Which means Mark & Shannon, are “empty-nesters” for the first time in 37 years (our kids were 14 years apart.) Honestly, we haven’t adjusted to our new reality. This spring will be our 40th anniversary. What a blessed journey we continue to share!

O come, let us adore HIM, O come, let us adore HIM, O Come let us adore HIM, Christ the LORD!
