We are planning a mission trip to Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY, departing on Sunday, October 6 and returning on Saturday, October 12. This trip is expected to be particularly spectacular both in the opportunity to be the “Hands and Feet of Jesus” but also in the opportunity to experience creation’s beauty in the crisp fall weather and mountain foliage.
The timing of the trip is at the end of the season for Red Bird Work Camp Teams. Our team composition will determine our exact task assignments, but we have expressed to Red Bird that we would welcome the opportunity to finish up any project that just did not quite get finished earlier this season rather than start something new.
We have a confirmed reservation with Red Bird for this week for our team. We hope and expect to have between 8 and 15 team members. The total cost for the trip will be $375.00 per person, which includes transportation, lodging, and meals at Red Bird. The fee also includes a contribution towards materials we will use. The only additional amount to consider is lunch on the trip up and again on the return trip.
The total fee of $375 can be split into two installments if you prefer. The first in the amount of $200, by NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 15 and the balance of $175 by NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 1. Your check should be payable to PTCUMC and delivered to Dee Tyner at the Church with a notation of Red Bird Oct 2019 Trip.
The congregation is collecting supplies for the Red Bird Christian School on the Red Bird campus. This excellent K-12 School serves the local area with a highly regarded, quality program. Its operation is in constant need for supplies, materials, and other resources. You are encouraged to also participate in this with a monetary gift or a gift of school supplies. A collection station is being set up at the Church for this collection.
As we get closer, we will schedule a short organizational gathering to finalize all the details.
